“"Hell is other people."”

Kelvin Players Theatre Company

SUMMARY

Three people meet. They are in a closed room. They are strangers to each other. What else do they have in common apart from the fact that they are all dead? What role does the laconic Waiter play?

Written in 1943 and performed in Paris in 1944 while the city was still under German occupation, Huis Clos explores the truths and lies that each of the characters employs to achieve what they want.

But will those truths and lies protect them or damage them? Are there deeper truths than those they believe in? Their very existence depends on it, because how do you know really who you are?

And is Hell really other people?
