'Do you though? Find it hard? Getting close? I want to get close but I can't stop blowing things apart. Vexing people like a bomb.'

Spotlights Drama Society presents its Spring MR5C production of Phil Porter's award-winning 'The Cracks In My Skin'.

The story of Janie, a strange, uncouth, wonderful creation, a girl who just wants to get close, get swallowed up, get her head completely stuck inside someone else's, as she stumbles across three forgotten people in need of a miracle. On one hot evening in the middle of summer 1987, with the help of a bottle of gin, a paddling pool and the music of Dexy's Midnight Runners, this mismatched group find in themselves the unlikeliest of families. ‘The Cracks in my Skin’ is open-hearted, funny, surprising and brutal, a new kind of love story, a new kind of family.

With a distinctly nostalgic 80s flavour and killer soundtrack, with costume courtesy of 71 Queens vintage clothing store, 'The Cracks In My Skin' presents a world where rules feel different, surprising and disarming, a play for anyone.
