John Moran

SUMMARY

Inimitable New York composer and performer John Moran returns to Mayfest with the world premiere of a new solo piece. John Moran: The Con Artist seamlessly combines movement, sound and a musical approach to realism. Moran became a protégé of Philip Glass upon his arrival in New York in the early 90s, and his works have featured performers such as Uma Thurman, Iggy Pop and Allen Ginsberg. He has been touring internationally since 2007, often alongside Japanese performer Saori Tsukada.

Moran’s unique blend of music and movement thrilled and confounded audiences in Mayfest 2009 and 2010. He is a rare and exhilarating talent and we’re extremely excited to be welcoming him back to delight audiences once more with the premiere of this new piece.

"I am convinced that there is no more important composer working today than John Moran."
